Hacer alone shows four different forms of irregularity across the tenses: -go in present, fully irregular preterite stem, regular imperfect, irregular participle, irregular future stem. This is why it demands its own systematic tense coverage.
The Six-Tense Oral Drill
Take each verb through all six tenses in three passes: yo forms, él/ella forms, nosotros forms. Say each form followed by a ministry sentence.
Creer — Full Oral Drill
Yo forms: creo — Creo que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios. creí — Creí en Cristo cuando tenía diecisiete años. creía — De niño, creía sin cuestionarme mucho. he creído — He creído en la fidelidad de Dios a lo largo de los años. voy a creer — Voy a creer aunque el camino sea oscuro. creeré — Creeré mientras tenga aliento.
Él/Ella forms: cree — El que cree en Él no perecerá. creyó — Creyó en Cristo y fue bautizado. creía — Antes, creía en algo, pero no sabía en qué. ha creído — Ha creído desde que era niño. va a creer — Va a creer — Dios está obrando en su corazón. creerá — Creerá cuando vea la obra de Dios.
Nosotros forms: creemos — Creemos en un solo Dios en tres personas. creímos — Creímos la primera vez que escuchamos el evangelio. creíamos — Creíamos juntos por los enfermos de esa comunidad. hemos creído — Hemos creído en las promesas de Dios por años. vamos a creer — Vamos a creer juntos por un avivamiento en esta ciudad. creeremos — Creeremos hasta que lo veamos cumplido.
Hacer — Full Oral Drill
Yo forms: hago — Hago todo para la gloria de Dios. hice — Hice lo que pude con los recursos que tenía. hacía — Antes, hacía muchas cosas buenas, pero sin Cristo. he hecho — He hecho lo mejor que he podido. voy a hacer — Voy a hacer discípulos en esta comunidad. haré — Haré su voluntad mientras viva.
Él/Ella forms: hace — Dios hace todas las cosas nuevas. hizo — Dios hizo al hombre a su imagen y semejanza. hacía — La iglesia primitiva hacía todo en común. ha hecho — Lo que Dios ha hecho en esta comunidad es increíble. va a hacer — Dios va a hacer mucho más de lo que pedimos. hará — Él lo hará — su Palabra no cae en vano.

Sample Doctrinal Explanation (for Lab)
English to read aloud (partner reads, you interpret into Spanish; then reverse):
The gospel is not complicated, but it demands everything. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He came to do what we could not do. He made satisfaction for our sin — something we could not make ourselves. When we believe, we receive forgiveness. Many people heard the message and believed. But many others hear and do not want to respond. They can see the truth but refuse to accept it. The church must continue to proclaim the gospel until all have heard. We will keep preaching. God will do what only He can do. And those who believe will have eternal life.
Target Spanish interpretation:
El evangelio no es complicado, pero exige todo. Creemos que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios. Vino a hacer lo que nosotros no podíamos hacer. Satisfizo el castigo por nuestro pecado — algo que nosotros no podíamos hacer. Cuando creemos, recibimos el perdón. Muchos escucharon el mensaje y creyeron. Pero muchos otros escuchan y no quieren responder. Pueden ver la verdad pero se niegan a aceptarla. La iglesia debe seguir proclamando el evangelio hasta que todos hayan escuchado. Evaluation Questions
After completing the interpretation:

Tense accuracy: Were preterite forms (creyeron, hizo) distinguished from imperfect forms (podíamos, hacían)? Were present forms (creemos, puede) distinguished from future forms (tendrán, hará)?

Irregular form handling: Did you correctly interpret hice/hizo/hicieron, pude/podía, quiso/quería? These carry different nuances and the distinction matters.

Meaning survival: Did the theological content come through? Specifically: the distinction between what Christ did (completed preterite) and what the church must do (ongoing present and future)?

Fluency: Where did you hesitate? Which verbs or forms caused a delay? Those are your priority items for additional drilling.
Unit 6 Completion Checklist
Before beginning Unit 7, verify that you can:
Present Tense:
- Know the -ER present endings: -o, -es, -e, -emos, -en
- Know the -a/-e contrast with -AR and internalize it
- Know the -zco yo pattern for -cer/-cir verbs
- Know the yo-go forms: hago, tengo, sé, veo, pongo
- Know the full conjugation of tener: tengo, tienes, tiene, tenemos, tienen
- Choose saber vs. conocer correctly in under 2 seconds per situation
Past Tenses:
- Know the -ER/-IR imperfect endings: -ía, -ías, -ía, -íamos, -ían
- Know the three irregular imperfects: ser (era), ir (iba), ver (veía)
- Know the eight irregular preterite stems and produce them automatically
- Know the nuance shifts: saber (found out), poder (managed/failed), querer (tried/refused), conocer (met)
- Know the five irregular participles: hecho, visto, vuelto, puesto, roto
- Know accent placement on creído, leído participles
Future Tenses:
- Know that near future uses the infinitive unchanged for all -ER verbs
- Know the six irregular future stems: tendr-, har-, podr-, sabr-, querr-, pondr-
Integration:
- Take creer, obedecer, entender, hacer through all 6 tenses orally without notes

Daily Practice Going Forward
Unit 7 introduces -IR verbs. The paradigm overlaps substantially with -ER verbs:
- Same present endings except nosotros (-imos vs. -emos)
- Same imperfect endings
- Same preterite endings
- Same simple future endings
The primary new learning in Unit 7 is the vocabulary set and a set of irregular -IR verbs.
The Unit 6 maintenance commitment: Keep -ER verb irregulars in your drill rotation:
- Daily: creo, hago, tengo, veo, sé — the five irregular yo forms
- Daily: the five irregular participles: hecho, visto, vuelto, puesto, roto
- Weekly: the eight irregular preterite stems as a complete chant
- Weekly: the six irregular future stems as a chant
These 18 forms across five irregular verbs are the core of -ER verb fluency. The regular patterns apply themselves; these must be maintained consciously.
