Español para Misioneros

A Complete Spanish Course for Christian Mission Work in Latin America

Welcome. This course exists because the gospel crosses every language barrier — but when it travels through your native tongue, something is lost. When you speak even broken Spanish to a family in Guatemala, a teenager in Colombia, or an elder in Peru, you communicate something words alone cannot: I came here for you, not just for you to hear me.

This is a 60-lesson course built specifically for non-denominational Christians preparing for mission trips to Latin America. It takes you from zero Spanish to confident, ministry-ready conversation — one 30-minute lesson at a time.

How to Use This Course

Start at Lesson 1. Every lesson builds on the one before it. The vocabulary introduced in early lessons returns throughout the course, reinforcing your retention naturally.

Do one lesson per day if possible. Spaced practice over 60 days produces far better results than cramming.

Speak out loud. Every lesson includes a speaking practice section. Don’t skip it. Language lives in your mouth, not on the page.

Use the Reference materials as you go. When you forget a word or need a quick phrase for an upcoming trip, the reference pages are your field guides.

A Note on Methodology

This course blends five evidence-based language learning approaches:

  • Comprehensible Input (Krashen) — Every lesson includes a story or dialogue pitched just above your current level, set in a real mission context
  • Communicative Language Teaching — You practice real communication tasks from Lesson 1 onward
  • Spaced Repetition — Each lesson opens with a “Review Flash” pulling vocabulary from 2–3 lessons back
  • Task-Based Learning — Lessons are organized around things you will actually do on a trip: give directions, share your testimony, lead someone in prayer
  • Natural Approach / TPRS — Grammar patterns emerge through story and repetition before they’re explicitly explained

You will finish this course able to introduce yourself, share your faith, pray with locals, lead a basic Bible study, and navigate common ministry situations — all in Spanish.
