Welcome to Spanish
Unit 1 builds your foundation. By the end of these twelve lessons, you will be able to pronounce Spanish accurately, greet people of all ages, introduce yourself as a Christian missionary, count and handle numbers, tell time, describe your family, and name the places you’ll visit on a mission trip.
These are the words and skills that will make your first hours in Latin America functional rather than overwhelming.
Unit 1 Learning Goals:
- Pronounce all Spanish sounds correctly
- Greet people formally and informally at any time of day
- Introduce yourself: name, origin, faith, purpose
- Ask and answer basic questions (what, who, where, when, why)
- Count from 1 to 1,000
- State days, months, and dates
- Tell time
- Describe things by color and size
- Name family members
- Identify key places in a community
