Classic Bible Study Discussion Questions
These four questions work with almost any Bible passage:
- ¿Qué dice el texto? — What does the text say? (Observation)
- ¿Qué significa? — What does it mean? (Interpretation)
- ¿Qué aprendemos sobre Dios? — What do we learn about God?
- ¿Cómo lo aplicamos a nuestra vida? — How do we apply it to our lives? (Application)
How to Open a Bible Study
“Bienvenidos a todos. Vamos a comenzar con una oración. [Ora.] Hoy vamos a estudiar el pasaje de [libro, capítulo y versículos]. Vamos a leer juntos y luego hablaremos de lo que el Señor nos quiere enseñar a través de este texto.”
(Welcome everyone. Let’s start with a prayer. [Pray.] Today we’re going to study the passage in [book, chapter, verses]. We’ll read together and then discuss what the Lord wants to teach us through this text.)
How to Close a Bible Study
“En resumen, hoy aprendimos que [main point]. Esto nos recuerda que Dios [truth from the passage]. Esta semana, ¿qué es una cosa concreta que puedes hacer para aplicar lo que aprendiste? [Pause for responses.] Gracias por estar aquí. Terminamos con una oración. [Pray.] Nos vemos la próxima semana.”
Story: El Estudio Bíblico del Miércoles (Wednesday Bible Study)
Marcos facilita un pequeño estudio bíblico con cuatro personas en la casa de Doña Rosa. Están estudiando Juan 4 — la mujer samaritana.
Marcos: — Buenas noches. Oremos antes de comenzar. [Ora.] Hoy vamos a leer Juan cuatro, versículos uno al treinta. ¿Pueden abrir sus Biblias? Ana, ¿puedes leer los versículos uno al quince?
Ana: — (lee)
Marcos: — Gracias. ¿Qué observan en este pasaje? ¿Qué está pasando?
Doña Rosa: — Jesús le habla a una mujer que era rechazada por su propia gente.
Marcos: — Muy buena observación. ¿Por qué era rechazada?
Tomás: — Por su vida — había tenido muchos hombres.
Marcos: — Exactamente. Y Jesús, siendo judío, ni siquiera debía hablarle. Pero lo hizo. ¿Qué nos dice eso sobre Dios?
Doña Rosa: — Que Dios no rechaza a nadie. Que llega a los que otros ignoran.
Marcos: — Perfecto. ¿Y cómo podemos aplicar esto a nuestras propias vidas esta semana?
(A long pause. Then Tomás speaks quietly.)
Tomás: — Hay una persona en mi vida a la que yo he rechazado. Creo que Dios me está hablando a través de este pasaje.
Marcos: — (suavemente) Eso es exactamente cómo funciona la Palabra de Dios. ¿Quieres que oremos por eso?
(Marcos facilitates a small Bible study with four people at Doña Rosa’s house… “There is a person in my life that I have rejected. I think God is speaking to me through this passage.” “That’s exactly how God’s Word works. Do you want us to pray about that?”)

Use the four discussion questions and the opening/closing scripts from this lesson. Even if you’re alone, speak aloud — practice the rhythm of facilitating.
Cultural Note
Group Bible study culture: In Latin American evangelical churches, small group Bible studies (grupos pequeños, células, or grupos de crecimiento) are common and deeply valued. These groups meet in homes and are the relational heart of the church. They are informal, often run long, and frequently include food. As a facilitator, your role is to ask questions and listen — not to lecture. The group’s interaction is the lesson. Escucha más de lo que hablas. (Listen more than you speak.)
