Story: La Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones (Vacation Bible School)
Sara lidera una sesión de Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones con veinte niños de entre cinco y doce años.
Sara: — ¡Buenos días, amigos! ¿Cómo están hoy?
Niños: — ¡Biiiiien!
Sara: — ¡Excelente! Hoy vamos a aprender sobre David y Goliat. ¿Alguien conoce esa historia?
[Varios niños levantan la mano.]
Sara: — ¡Qué bueno! Escuchen: hace mucho tiempo, había un niño pequeño que se llamaba David. Era pastor de ovejas. Y había un gigante muy, muy grande que se llamaba Goliat. Todo el mundo tenía miedo de Goliat… excepto David.
Niña: — ¿Por qué?
Sara: — Porque David confiaba en Dios. Él dijo: “Dios, que salvó a mi oveja del oso y del león, me salvará también del gigante.” ¿Adivinen qué pasó?
Niño: — ¡David ganó!
Sara: — ¡Exactamente! ¡Con una sola piedra y mucha fe! La enseñanza de hoy es: con Dios, los pequeños pueden hacer cosas grandes. ¿Entienden?
Niños: — ¡Sí!
Sara: — ¡Muy bien! Ahora vamos a hacer una actividad — vamos a pintar la escena de David y Goliat. ¿Listos?
(Sara leads a VBS session with twenty children. “Today we’re going to learn about David and Goliath.” … “Because David trusted God. He said: ‘God, who saved my sheep from the bear and the lion, will save me from the giant too.’ Can you guess what happened?” “David won!” “Exactly! With just one stone and a lot of faith! Today’s lesson is: with God, small people can do great things.”)

Tell a Bible story to an imaginary group of children. Choose one:
- Noah and the Ark (Noé y el arca)
- The feeding of the 5,000 (la multiplicación de los panes)
- Jesus calms the storm (Jesús calma la tormenta)
- The lost sheep (la oveja perdida)
Use simple vocabulary, voices for characters, and end with a lesson the children can remember. Practice for 3 minutes.
Cultural Note
Physical affection with children: In Latin America, children are often very physically affectionate — hugs, sitting on laps, hand-holding is normal and culturally appropriate within a ministry context. However, always be mindful of your team’s child protection policies and maintain appropriate boundaries at all times. The warmth you show children on a mission trip can be transformative — many come from difficult home situations. Be genuine, be appropriate, and be safe.
