Grammar Focus: Present Tense for “Now” Descriptions
Part 3 is mostly in the present tense — because it’s about who you are now:
- Ahora tengo paz. — Now I have peace.
- Siento que Dios me ama. — I feel that God loves me.
- Puedo enfrentar los problemas con su ayuda. — I can face problems with his help.
- Ya no busco el propósito en cosas vacías. — I no longer look for purpose in empty things.
“Since then” construction: Desde que acepté a Cristo, + [present tense]
- Desde que acepté a Cristo, tengo una dirección en mi vida.
- Desde que recibí a Jesús, ya no estoy solo/a.
Sample Testimony Part 3
“Desde ese día, mi vida cambió por completo. Ahora tengo una paz que no puedo explicar — una paz que el mundo no puede dar. Antes me sentía solo; ahora sé que Dios está conmigo en todo momento.
Hay cosas en mi vida que todavía estoy trabajando — no soy perfecto/a. Pero la diferencia es que ya no lucho solo/a. Tengo a Dios, tengo una familia de fe, y tengo su Palabra para guiarme.
Hoy estoy aquí, en este país, porque Dios me llamó a compartir lo que Él hizo en mi vida. No sé si lo que digo es perfecto en español, pero sé que el amor de Dios no necesita traducción. Y sé que lo que Él hizo por mí, lo puede hacer por usted también.”
(Since that day, my life changed completely. Now I have a peace I can’t explain — a peace the world cannot give. Before I felt alone; now I know that God is with me at every moment. There are things in my life I’m still working on — I’m not perfect. But the difference is that I no longer struggle alone… Today I am here, in this country, because God called me to share what He did in my life. I don’t know if what I say is perfect in Spanish, but I know that God’s love needs no translation. And I know that what He did for me, He can do for you too.)

Write your own Part 3 in Spanish. Use 4–6 sentences. Then speak it aloud.
Structure:
- The contrast: Antes… pero ahora…
- What you have now: Tengo / Siento / Encuentro / Puedo…
- The ongoing journey: Sigo creciendo / No soy perfecto/a pero…
- The bridge to the listener: Lo que Dios hizo por mí, lo puede hacer por usted también.
Now practice the FULL testimony — Parts 1, 2, and 3 — without stopping. Aim for 2–3 minutes total.
Record yourself if you can, then listen back. Notice where you hesitate and practice those sections specifically.
The Bridge Line
The most important sentence in your testimony is the transition from your story to their invitation:
“Lo que Dios hizo por mí, Él lo puede hacer por usted también.” (What God did for me, He can do for you too.)
Or more simply:
“Dios te ama. Él tiene un plan para tu vida.” (God loves you. He has a plan for your life.)
This is the moment testimony becomes invitation.
Cultural Note
Vulnerability in Latin American culture: Sharing personal struggles and emotional transformation is culturally natural in Latin America, more so than in Northern European or American Protestant traditions that tend toward stoicism. When you share that you felt alone, struggled, or were lost, you will find listeners nodding in recognition. Vulnerability is not weakness in this context — it is the condition for connection. Share honestly. The more real your testimony, the more it lands.
