Matthew 20
The parable of the workers is an illustration of God's generosity to all who believe in Him. You don't get more by believing in Him for your whole life, and you don't get less by coming to faith at the end of your life. Everyone who believes in Jesus receives the same reward - salvation. Also, each of us have a different God-given work to do and we should not compare ourselves to each other. My duty to God is between me and God, and so is my reward - and the same is true for each of us.
Then Jesus repeats the phrase again, "the last will be first, and the first will be last."
And then He repeats the prediction of His death and resurrection. And this time there is no recorded response from the disciples, but instead James and John's mom asks Jesus to place her sons in positions of authority in His kingdom. He just told them He was going to die and be raised from the dead, then asked them if they can drink the cup He is going to drink and they eagerly reply "ofcourse!" Then we hear about how the other disciples were unhappy with them for this.
The ambition after power made them look bad in front of everyone. This reminds me of the teaching where Jesus said it is better to sit at the lower place of the table and be invited to a position of honor, rather than placing yourself in a position of honor and being asked to go lower.
Then there were blind men sitting beside the road as Jesus approached Jerusalem and they called Jesus by a title that kind of sets up what happens next. They called Him Son of David as He was entering Jerusalem for His final week.
